TRY
2020 – ongoing
Try is a set of performances focused on the different sports practiced during the
Olympics games, narrated with performance staging, film and photography.
Every performance is the narration of a sport and it’s site specific. This work aims to
investigate the relationship between collective construction and the political body.
Try manifests itself in several moments, with performance variations that build the path aimed at celebrating aesthetics, where the female body, subject of the actions, becomes a recognized and recognizable narrative tool.
In every performance of Try, a sport is staged, de-contextualized, in order to create a sporting show in an unusual context. By shifting the sports action from its classic setting it acquires different meanings. By involving professional athletes, schools, sports clubs, a narration is created that becomes a collective and participatory story.
Sports, such as artistic gymnastics, fencing, athletics are a variation of the same idea:
Try # 1, Try # 2, Try # 3, etc. Each performance is staged only once, the nexthas another number represents another sports’ sequence/training.
